What about a classic, simple and chic ways to show off your favourite things in a pretty way? Flatlay is definitely the new in on Instagram. Here comes the 6 tips that I've picked up along the way.
1. Square Mode- Place your items neatly, always imagine there's an invisible frame. Not necessary to be at the middle of the square, you can also have your items to placed at the corner. For iPhone users, you can simply select square mode.
2. Neutral Background
- Stick to a neutral background to avoid adding unnecessary noise to the composition. A plain bed sheet, wood surface, white rug, marble table, whitewash timber board or colorful tiles do the trick nicely.
3. Build a Color Palette
- Colors are powerful for evoking moods, so create a color palette that strikes the note you’re going for. Create a theme for your flatlay and collect the items based on the same color tone.
4. Props
- Happily add a prop into your flatlay to make it more artsy. One of my favorite prop - Flower! Besides of that, inspirational quote prints, Macbook, iPad & magazines will do a great job too.
5. Lighting
- Natural day light most flatters your items without casting shadows over it.
6. Pick a theme
- Different elements can be confusing in a flatly. Show what you exactly trying to say with the theme such as : Luxurious collection, Tea time, My brunch table, #ootd, Get fit essentials, Travel essentials, What's in my bag, What's on my desk etc.
7. Follow the Pro
- Follow the flatlay's pro on Instagram to get inspiration and ideas for your next flatlays. Practice makes perfect! Take more pictures and try different composition for your best flatlay.
